Light couldn't sleep.
For hours he had tossed under the thick satin which covered him, but sleep had always evaded him. He'd instruct himself to lower his eyelids gently, so his long lashes delicately tickled his cheek, but soon his thoughts would twist and bind themselves around one another, and his brow would be knotted.
